The Pulmonary Medicine Service provides the most updated means for diagnosis and management of all diseases of the lungs and respiratory tract.

The Asthma Clinic provides a comprehensive Asthma Management Programme for patients suffering from bronchial asthma. This involves evaluation, treatment, monitoring, follow-up and education of both the patient and family about asthma, its management and provides the patient with means for self-monitoring and self-treatment.

At the clinic, patients acquire the knowledge, skills and confidence to control their asthma and are supported by a skilled team of specialists including pulmonologists, allergists, otorhinolaryngologists, psychologists, dietitians, asthma nurses, pulmonary function technicians and occupational, physical and respiratory therapists.

The pulmonary service also offers diagnosis and management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, including chronic bronchitis and emphysema, acute and chronic respiratory insufficiency, infectious lung diseases, including patients who are immuno-compromised, interstitial lung diseases, immunologic lung diseases, industrial or occupational lung diseases and of patients with suspected lung cancer.

Provide pulmonary evaluation for patients with various lung suppressed by an experienced respiratory therapist including chest physiotherapy, breathing exercise, postural drainage, among others.

Pulse oximetry, Pulmonary exercise studies, Pulmonary function tests including spirometry, lung volumes, diffusion studies and arterial blood gases. Broncho-provoction studies, sleep studies, pleural biopsy, Trans-thoracic needle aspiration, Fiber-optic Bronchospcopy, diagnostic and therapeutic, including bronchial biopsies, bronchial washings and brushings, Bronchoalveolar lavage and transbronchial lung biopsy.

We also provide integrated care for patients on ventilator support systems in the hospital or at home. A complete multidisciplinary programme is in place for patients who require intensive care and life support.
