The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery provides a wide range of treatment options for various Paediatric (children), adult and Geriatric (old age) musculoskeletal injuries and diseases.

Under guidance of Dr. Faysal Al Zeerah, IHB President, we are committed to be at the vanguard of improving health of the population of Bahrain and ensure that patients have access to a quality and responsive health service.

Service is available for a variety of routine and complex sports injuries with full compliment of diagnostic and therapeutic arthroscopy of both upper and lower limb joints.

Service includes corrective surgery for lower limb deformities, reconstructive ligament surgery and hip and knee joint arthroplasty (joint replacement).

The department has a specialized spine unit equipped with the latest instruments for advanced disc and decompression surgery, and spinal stabilization.

The department utilizes the modern AO/ASIF implants/instruments for the fixation of fractures with the use of image intensifier as needed.

Other Medical Highlights
The Orthopaedic department works in close association with the department of Neurosciences, Plastic & Reconstructive surgery, Rheumatology and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation for the treatment of various peripheral neurological conditions, musculoskeletal deformities, arthritis and sports injuries respectively.

The IHB Orthopaedic service started twenty years ago dealing with deformity, diseases of the bone and joints, and injuries of the musculoskeletal system.

Modern orthopaedic surgery has changed radically and now extends from the neonates to elderly and the Orthopaedic Department at IHB covers all these services including neonates, children deformities, sports medicine, degenerative joint diseases, musculoskeletal trauma, and the elderly.
