
International Hospital of Bahrain wins Bahrain eContent Award
The International Hospital of Bahrain won in the eHealth Category of the Bahrain eContent Award 2009 held at Al Taj Hall in the Sheraton Hotel on 16 March 2009.
The IHB Website won because it has an informative website with simple and friendly interface. IHB offers online none-urgent appointments for most of their doctors along with visiting professors mostly in the same-day appointment. In addition, their website is updated in daily basis by adding newborn babies in web nursery. Moreover, visitors can apply for a job and browsing health library.
The Bahrain eContent Award is organised by the eGovernment Authority in Bahrain along with the Bahrain Internet Society and inspired by WSA - the World Summit Award in order to select quality e-content and promote creativity and innovation in the development of new media applications in Bahrain. It is under the patronage of H.E. Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology (SCICT).
The key criteria to win in any category at the awards were, quality and comprehensiveness of content, ease of use, value add through interaction and animation, Attractiveness of design quality in technical craftsmanship and strategic important for the global development of the Information Society were other points taken into consideration before the winners were announced.
Other categories were: eGovernment, eLearning, eInclusion, eScience, eBusiness, eBanking, eMedia, eEntertainment, and eCulture.
