IHB offering best liver care in town

Bahrain residents will get a chance to consult top German transplant surgeon when he visits the International Hospital of Bahrain (IHB) next week.

Professor Christoph Broelsch is an authority in surgery of the liver, liver diseases, pancreas, bile ducts and in transplantation surgery.

He also has extensive experience in various upper and lower gastrointestinal tract surgeries including those for cancer of the gastrointestinal tract.

Dr Broelsch is the former head of the General and Transplantation Clinics at the University Hospitals in Hamburg and Essen and has been instrumental in the development of segmental liver trans plantation and life organ donation for livers at Chicago University. He has more than 35 years experience in hepato-biliary-pancreatic surgery and in transplantation and is a member of numerous learned surgical organisations.

Prof Broelsch will be available from January 16, and regularly thereafter as part of the hospital's International Patient Services Programme.

He will also be available for general surgical problems.
